So what is the difference between a manuscript and an illuminated manuscript? Can you guess?
In case you are wondering a manuscript abbreviated “MS” is considered to be a document that is handwritten.Â

There are usually basic formats for writing manuscripts but it is still considered to be very technical. *Traditionally manuscripts were made without spacing in between words which could make it hard for the untrained eye.

Sadly though, the art form of handwriting documents is being taken over by modern technological use and all of the intricate meanings are slowing blurring together. I think it is largely because of the times we live in and because we like to abbreviate and simplify EVERYTHING!! But honestly..some things were not meant to be simplified.
So there is my 2 cents for the day (thanks in part to *wikipedia) Â

Me too! I remember finding a book of illustrated manuscript pages at a library when I very young and finding each handwritten letter a work of art in itself.

Many Americans these days have a hard time reading even simple cursive. Being European, I found that the handwriting of my new countrymen is largely devoid of character. Sad.
